In this
tutorial, I will like to talk about how to create a wordpress website which is
the most reliable and easy to use blogging platform which is widely used by
many all over the world.
Wordpress
can’t only be used as blogging software, but can also be used as a content
management system (CMS).
To create a
wordpress website, you need to have a domain and host.
WHAT IS A DOMAIN?
A domain can
be said to be the URL or Your website name. Eg… www.example.com is a domain... You can get a domain
at Name cheap (www.namecheap.com) and Godaddy (www.godaddy.com)..
WHAT IS A HOST?
A Host can be said to be the foundation of the website where
all that you are going to keep on the internet will be stored.
In order to get started with your website, you must point
your domain to the host in order to access the website on the internet.
HOW TO POINT YOUR DOMAIN TO THE HOST.
While signing up for your domain, you will be given a space
to input the DNS of your host, and the DNS of your host should usually be in
these forms..
DNS1.EXAMPLE.COM
DNS2.EXAMPLE.COM
DNS3.EXAMPLE.COM
If you input the DNS of
your host, you have successfully pointed your domain to your host and you are
good to go.
HOW TO
INSTALL WORDPRESS.
After pointing your
domain to the host you bought, the next step should be the installation of
wordpress.
If you are using a
host that uses CPANEL, you will need to log into your cpanel to install
wordpress. But if the reverse is the case, you will have to visit the wordpress
download website (www.wordpress.org) to download wordpress, once you have downloaded the script, you have
to upload the script to your public_html and extract it in to the same folder.
You must delete the uploaded script after extracting.
After extracting, you
must create a database through your cpanel, and then connect the database to
the script by going to the folder names SETTINGS. After inputting the details
of your database, save and then visit your website. You will see welcome to
your wordpress site…
You can change the
theme and design of your website by going to the setting page.
